BALMAIN ROAD LILLYFIELD



Commercial development of an existing industial inner-city site to provide two floors of commercial floor place over a basement level of carparking. The site enjoys a prominent location at a small bend in Balmain Road.

The design proposes a masonry infill building, built to the street alignment, with vertically proportioned openings consistent with the early twentieth century streetscape of adjoining buildings. The street wall is further fragmented at the "hinge" in the street via the location of openings for building entry and meeting rooms over.

Natural light, ventilation and circulation is provided at first floor level via a central courtyard sheltered from sun and vain by a canopy of operable shade louvres.
